The reshaping of the fashion apparel industry with ghost mannequin photography by VSP Studios began in 2010.
The actual reshaping takes placed in our post production department, where the final images are polished and completed, but there were a few moves made along the way that reshaped how we launched VSP Studios some 10 years ago. We entered a part of the industry that was overlooked by so many who just didn’t see it as a big part of the future. Perhaps they thought it was a fad, or that it would not really be needed by enough retailers to make it a worthy venture. Either way, I saw what was missing and stepped in heavy from get go. Pedal to the metal mentality aside, I did my homework and found the right team to expedite the game plan. Back then, no one was offering this new “invisible ghost mannequin” style to the open public online. Yes there we plenty of sites offering to tell you how cool looking the process was and how apparel brands will use it, but no clear site offering a “menu” price list or a ‘click here to order” button to acquire ghost mannequin images of your new fashion apparel collection. VSP ghost mannequin spawned from the moment I saw this opening. We didn’t invent the process, we just perfected the process and were first to offer it to the masses on Google. Fist come, first serve as they say, but we also take pride in the quality of work we put out for our customers. To us this is a fashion art form that requires a photographers skill and a stylists eye to achieve. Together this combination has allowed us to work with several of the top online retailers and wholesalers. With Elena’s great leadership and industry knowledge, she has taken over the ghost shootings at VSP. There is simply no one better at dialing in ghost apparel photoshoots than my wife. If there was an Olympic team for ghost mannequin photoshoots, Elena is on the team and taking a medal, I have zero doubt. I taught her everything that she knows about photography, of course, but the styling and positioning of the garments on the mannequins is all her. I’m so proud of her, can’t you tell?

We are all hearing more and more buzz about how AI is coming, or rather, it has arrived. In the fashion apparel industry we are seeing new ways in which AI will change the game being proposed. Some are controversial and unwelcome by long standing industry players, and some fully accepted and pushed into the market place. I will touch base on this in the near future, but for now my focus is on the content creation need that AI presents. We started getting more inquiries from customers who want to place an order for ghost mannequin photography services, with the plan of using the images on a app service that places the clothing onto AI generated models and into short play video content. This has increased the demand for our ghost mannequin department and has opened my eyes up to what is to come next. Like I said, more to come on this.
